If you are a chocolate fanatic and do what you can to eat healthy this post is going to be life changing! Ive got a healthy hot chocolate recipe that you are going to fall in love with and won't feel a bit guilty about indulging in! This is my favorite drink and Ive pretty much been drinking it every day-and feeling good about it. No more chocolate sugary (toxic) hot chocolate mixes. This is the way to do it. As you read through the ingredients you'll quickly see why its so amazing for you. Its loaded with superfoods and spices and antioxidants that I'd bet you've been hearing wonderous things about. It'll give you more energy and help curb your appeittie at the same time detoxifying your muscles and cells.
Here's what you'll need: (and whats so great about each ingredient)
1/2 Cup Boiling Water
1/2 Cup Boiling Coconut Milk, Almond Milk, or Hemp Milk-*All choices are nutrient rich and healthy fats.
2 Tbsp. of Raw Cacao- *Superfood loaded nutrients & total energy booster
1 Tsp. Coconut Oil-*Healthy fat & superfood. It helps carry nutrients into your cells & will boost your energy & helps you feel fuller, longer.
1 Tsp. Cinnamon-*Revs up metabolism, increases immunity & detoxifies
1/2 Tsp. Tumeric- *Anti-inflamatory spice, helps move toxins through and out of the body
1/8 Tsp. Nutmeg-*Increases immunity
1/2 Tsp. Collagen Powder-*Great for your hair, skin and nails as well as musle recovery
1 Tbsp. Honey, Maple Syrup or Coconut Sugar (you can add more to taste)-*All of these are natural sweeteners that wont spike your blood sugar.
***Leave out the Collagen for a Vegan version!
How to Make:
In a small pot, bring the water and milk of your choice to a slow boil. Reduce heat and keep at a slow simmer while you add in the ingredients. One by one. Or if its easier, measure and put all the ingredients in a small bowl first and then add to the liquid all at once. (Either way it will come out just as creamy and delicious). Once you add the dry ingredients start mixing with a wire wisk. Wisk for about a minute until it thickens a bit and gets nice and frothy. Remove from heat, pour into a mug, sit, relax and enjoy.
When I drink this I can litterally feel the nutrients and anti-oxidants being absorbed by my body. I've actually started to drink this every morning. Replace your coffee with this and start feeling amazing things happen. Trust me.
*Some Side Notes:
-The coconut milk that comes in the box I find to be a lot less creamy than Almond, or Hemp Milk, so if you are using boxed coconut milk you might want to use all milk without splitting with water. Or just increase the ratio of milk to water.
-Nutmeg can be a very strong spice so if the drink is too spicy for your taste try putting less nutmeg in or leaving it out completely.
-Feel free to play around with the ratios, based on your taste buds, especially on the spice and sweetener side of things.
